The company was founded in Chicago in 1984 by Jim K. Walsh who retired in 2015. In May 2017, Summit Industries relocated to a repurposed 82,000 square foot facility in Niles, Illinois. The company’s brands have dominant market share in the veterinary and chiropractic markets in the United States and are used worldwide in medical practices including hospitals, diagnostic imaging centers, orthopedic surgeons and physician groups. With a worldwide installed base of over 30,000 machines, Summit’s end users perform nearly 50 million x-ray procedures annually.
